My Story

Hey everyone, our name’s are Sophia and Charlotte, we are 9 and 11 years old. If you have a spare moment, we’d like to tell you a little about our story, or more to the point, our late Daddy’s story!!!

In April 2020, our daddy, Spencer, started feeling unwell. He went to visit the doctor one day as he had discovered blood in his urine and was referred for a number of tests and scans. Devastatingly in June 2020 he was diagnosed with a rare cancer in his left Kidney. The cancer was called Transitional Cell Carcinoma (TCC). This cancer is a rare form of cancer and even more so in someone of his age, which was only 46. This news meant that daddy would need an operation to remove his left kidney and possibly further treatment after such as Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy.

In early July 2020 he went into hospital to have his Kidney removed. Unfortunately the surgery did not go well and resulted in our daddy needing several further operations. During this time he never came home and spent 28 days in hospital in total. Unfortunately he could not overcome the complications of his surgery and he very sadly passed away on 9th August 2020.

We would like to try and raise some money in support of Kidney Cancer UK, who are a registered charity, Registration number 1120146 so that they can help others by providing invaluable information, grants and research into kidney cancer.

We have decided that we would like to run 1 mile per day from 1st March 2021 for 28 days, which is the total number of days that daddy spent in hospital. 1 mile may not seem a lot to many people, but neither of us are runners and it will be a challenge to keep this up for 28 consecutive days. So could you please help us achieve our target of £250 by sponsoring us.  No matter how big or small we can promise you every penny will count towards helping adults and children alike suffering from Kidney Cancer.
